Heat soaked tempered glass refers to sodium calcium silicate tempered glass that has undergone heat soak homogenization treatment (HST), mainly used in high safety scenarios in the construction and industrial fields. The core process is to complete the three-stage heat treatment of heating, insulation, and cooling in the homogenization furnace, eliminating the risk of self explosion caused by nickel sulfide impurities.
Essence: It is not an independent type of glass, but a secondary treatment process for tempered glass, also known as “homogenization treatment” or “detonation”.
Purpose: Tempered glass may self destruct due to the slow phase transition of trace amounts of nickel sulfide (NiS) at room temperature (the normal self destruct rate is about 3 ‰). Hot dip allows the glass with hidden dangers to break in advance in the factory, reducing the self destruct rate after installation to 0.01 ‰ -0.1 ‰ (one ten thousandth to three ten thousandths).
Process: Place the tempered glass into a hot air circulation homogenization furnace, heat it to 290 ℃± 10 ℃ and hold it for 1-8 hours (usually 2 hours), then slowly cool it down.
Result: The mechanical properties of glass remain unchanged, but the safety is significantly improved, and it is commonly used in high-risk places such as curtain walls, skylights, shower rooms, etc.
